Combining bike and train travel is the ideal solution for many travelers: you cover long distances quickly and sustainably by train, while your own bike gives you full freedom at your destination. But what about your bike trailer? Is it allowed on the train?
❌What is not allowed?
The Dutch Railways (NS) are clear about this:
“Cargo bikes, (child) bike trailers, and handcarts are not allowed on the train.”
Even detached from your bike, they are not permitted in the train unless used as an aid for a disability.
This sounds like bad news if you want to travel with a bike trailer. But luckily, there is a clever exception—if you handle it the right way.
✅ Why the Cyclone is suitable after all
Our Cyclone is more than just a bike trailer. It’s a thoughtful travel cart that adapts within seconds to the situation:
🧳 1. In no time, a large weekend bag
Once you remove the wheels and drawbar (no tools needed!), the Cyclone turns into a large, sturdy bag. And that is allowed on the train as regular luggage. No bike ticket needed, no discussions with train staff.
🚲 2. You can take your own bike (outside rush hours)
In the Netherlands, you are allowed to bring your own bike outside of rush hours (i.e., not between 6:30–9:00 and 16:00–18:30 on weekdays). You do need a Bike Ticket Off-Peak for this. Keep in mind, there is limited space for bikes on the train. If it’s full, you will have to wait for the next train.

When you just have placed an order you will be eager to know what happens after this exciting moment!
- After you placed and payed succesfully, we will receive your order in our system. You directly will receive an email with the order comfirmation. Please check this email and especially the adres: is it correct? Incase this is not the case, please reply the order confirmation email and let us know!
- Incase you choose bankpayment you also will receive the order comfirmation, which will give you the information which you need for the bankpayment. We will ship your order after we have received the bank payment. Please keep in mind that this can take some workingdays.
- From Monday till Friday, first thing we do in the morning is check the orders of the past 24 hours. Then we book the shipment. You will receive then a track and trace code by email.

- Then we will pack your order and mostly it will leave our workshop the same day as it will be picked up. For some orders (outside EU) we have to go to the postoffice ourselves. This happens mostly every other day.

Lately we had special visitors in our workshop in Holland: Alpha 7, Milan GT and Milan SL For those who ride Velomobile this sounds familiar, but if you have no clue, have a look at the pictures of these beauties of recumbent brand Velomobile!
Een fietskar meenemen in het vliegtuig, hoe doe je dat? Zowel de Cyclone Trekking- als de Chubby Bike Trailers worden door hun gebruikers naar veel verschillende bestemmingen gevlogen. Maar hoe pak je in? En hoe zit het met de grootte want is de fietskar niet nèt iets te groot...?
Zolang ik me kan herinneren is er discussie geweest over het reinigen en smeren van assen. Met of zonder vet? En zo ja, wat te smeren en wat niet? Door de jaren heen heb ik mijn weg gevonden, gedeeltelijk geleid door de kennis van mijn vader en mijn ingenieursdiploma, maar nog meer door gezond verstand en een obsessie voor schone spullen.
Regelmatig krijgen we een bestelling voor een vervangende trekhaak, omdat een reisfiets is gestolen. Als voormalig inwoner van de fietshoofdstad van de wereld bij deze mijn tips.

"Wat is de beste methode voor het reinigen van Nylon / Cordura producten?"
Ons advies (op basis van onze persoonlijke ervaring) is om Nylon / Cordura tassen een nacht of langer te laten weken in lauw water met een beetje wasmiddel of met zeepnootjes. Weken blijkt werkelijk de meest effectieve en veilige methode.
